Cygnett is very excited to announce the Cygnett UK ‘Design Your Own iPad Case’ Competition, to run between Friday, 15 June and Friday, 26 October 2012.

Aimed at attracting young and emerging British artists, the project will explore the creative possibilities that arise when a variety of artists and designers customise the same blank object.

Chosen from a pool of entrants who submit proposals and portfolios, Cygnett will challenge 100 artists to realise their personal vision on a blank Cygnett Alumni iPad case, to be completed over 12 weeks.

UK-based entrants will have the chance to win a new iPad (valued at £399) and have their iPad case artwork commercially-produced in Cygnett’s Alumni range.

Then the public will vote for the top five designs via the competition voting app on Cygnett’s Facebook page. Cygnett hopes this will provide a unique platform for publicising the creative output of competition entrants.

All artists and the media will be invited to the Cygnett UK ‘Design Your Own iPad Case’ Competition Exhibition, held on Friday 26 October 2012 at a prominent London gallery. At the Exhibition, the Top 100 pieces will be exhibited and the winners and runners up will be announced. The competition winner will be presented with a new iPad, the four runners up with £100 Cygnett Vouchers and ‘The Press Award for Most Creative Design’ winner with £200 worth of art supplies.

The winner of the competition will be selected from the five finalists by a panel led by Cygnett’s design team. Cygnett anticipates some exciting interpretations of ‘most creative’, both from the artists and press who will be invited to judge the award on the night.

As Cygnett’s Marketing Director, Sophie Swann described, “This project was inspired by our passion for creativity, art and design. We’re excited to see the blank canvas transformed by the imagination of young British creative minds from different disciplines, movements and media – free to fully personalise their Cygnett iPad cases.”
