Sympathetic to the sleek lines and restrained aesthetics of the iPhone, FlipWallet offers the functionality of containing all the user’s essential items in the case.
FlipWallet is made of soft texture but durable polyester and polyurethane synthetic microfibre; designed to carry the iPhone 5, four cards and cash. The synthetic material is die-cut and finished with heat-sealed edges, with an integrated, snap-on polycarbonate case to hold the device. With a hidden magnetic closure, cards and cash are enclosed while the touchscreen is protected from sharp objects.
Giles Matthews, Cygnett Senior Product Manager, described the inspiration for the design; ‘FlipWallet is a minimalist case aligned with Bauhaus principles – where function drives the form of the designed object. And, this is an economical, rather than over-amplified functionality.’ He continues, ‘the reference to the mechanical process is resolved in its production: there are only two points of hand-stitching – in what might ordinarily be a stitch-and-sew product – it has heat-sealed edges, precisely-cut patterns and an injection-moulded case.’
FlipWallet recalls the subtle, understated detailing of French apparel and haute couture accessories. The minimalist, modern case has an androgynous utilitarianism to suit both masculine and feminine fashion. FlipWallet is not a traditional wallet – it’s centred on the technological. And, the efficient use of manmade materials means that the case is recyclable, hardwearing, stain-resistant, water repellent and has anti-UV properties.
